Checklist for Assessing Organisation Ability

The following checklist identifies factors which Whythawk examines during an investigation into any development organisation:

  • Is the organisation a start-up or an established entity?
  • If finance is to be raised is it for a project or to refinance existing debt?
  • What is the sense of community at the entity?
  • What is the calibre of the board of trustees and / or management?
  • How in-depth are operations?
  • Is demand amply demonstrated?
  • Are utilisation rates normal?
  • What is the entity's financial position and expected performance?
  • How well does the entity perform under various stress scenarios?
  • Are financial ratios well balanced?
  • Are clients / beneficiaries materially better off after the interventions of the organisation?
  • How effective is the intervention of the organisation relative to its peers?
